My Summer Internship journey at the Reimagining Society
Welcome to the blog series about my Summer Internship experiences in India and Bhutan!
I am Siddharth Gulati, a Master in Public Policy Candidate at Harvard Kennedy School, and I am thrilled to spotlight for you all my internship journey at Reimagining Society. Thanks to the WAPPP's (Women and Public Policy Program | Harvard Kennedy School) Summer Internship Grant supported by the Cultural Bridge program enabling me to embark on an engaging role as a Project Management Intern within the Reimagining Climate Initiative. This internship aligns seamlessly with my academic pathway and career aspirations, focusing on gender-inclusive climate action—a fusion of public policy with a strong emphasis on sustainable development and equality.
Diving into the Role
During my time at Reimagining Society, an international not-for-profit dedicated to creating sustainable transformations, I will be entrenched in a variety of impactful projects. I will spend a significant part of my internship in Bhutan, where I will assist the Bhutanese Global Wellbeing Envoys and the leadership team of the Reimagining Society in crafting innovative policy strategies aimed at integrating gender equality into climate risk mitigation and reduction. Additionally, I will engage with targeted communities to assess the adaptive needs and vulnerabilities specific to women, guided by qualitative research methodologies like focus groups and surveys, which will inform our policy recommendations.
Broadening Horizons
Back at the global headquarters, I will be preparing for the highly anticipated Global Wellbeing Conference 2024. Here, my primary responsibilities entail organizing themes around Conflict Prevention, Gender Equality, and Climate Action and establishing collaborative pre-conference consultations with various stakeholders and partner organizations. Parallel to these efforts, I am also involved with the Research & Impact Team to develop insightful case studies and refine our approach to policy proposal evaluations—endeavors that enhance the quality and effectiveness of our advocacy on an international scale.
Reflecting on Impacts and Future Steps
This internship is not just a professional engagement; it is a profound learning experience that propels my understanding of the intricate interplay between climate change and gender policies. Each project I participate in not only sharpens my skills but also deepens my commitment to the cause. As I move forward, I strive to continue this journey of impactful policymaking and advocacy, aiming to carve out a niche at the crossroads of climate resilience and gender advocacy in my future endeavors.
